About Aprons & Altars

We are the hands behind Aprons & Altars: homemakers who believe keeping a home is skilled, honored work, and who got tired of tools that almost fit the life. So we started making our own, and writing down what actually works at our own kitchen tables.

Here you will find the ordered home (rhythms and systems that hold), the from-scratch kitchen, homeschool days with their records kept straight, hospitality that welcomes people in, and gifts made and chosen with care. Underneath all of it, we stay rooted in the Word.

Every verse on this site is quoted exactly from the King James Version and labeled as such. It is the Bible of our own tables, and we would rather quote it carefully than loosely.

“She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.”

Proverbs 31:27 (KJV)

Our name carries the two places this life is lived: the apron, for the daily work of the home, and the altar, for the devotion that orders it. The old word for it is “keeper of the home,” and it is the name we are proudest to answer to.
